Schaefer talked about the Cursed Captain, the addition of a lot of new pets, and why this spring update marks the end of the road for Echtra on Torchlight 3.

To learn more about Torchlight 3's spring update, Shacknews spoke with Echtra Games CEO Max Schaefer. There's a good reason for that, as we'll get into when we dive into the interview, but Echtra is going in hard with Torchlight 3's next update, which is headlined by the all-new Cursed Captain class. The next Torchlight 3 update looks to be the game's biggest one to date. So you can easily gain good bonuses during the early game and even keep those throughout your whole run.Even after completing its long journey from Steam Early Access, the team at Echtra Games continued supporting Torchlight 3 even after its 1.0 release. It is also important to notice that Forged can wear a lot of legendary items that are not class-specific.

Woodsbeast Set: Ignite deals twice as much damage. On Evade: Ignite nearby enemies, dealing 20% Weapon Damage for 3 seconds. Woodsbeast Set: Goblin Rage duration increased to 20 seconds. On Hit: 2% chance to gain Goblin Rage for 10 seconds, granting Immunity to Stun and Knockback, and increasing critical chance and attack speed by 25%. Skittering Set: Spew Acid lasts twice as long.Д¬ast Vortex Bomb: If above 75 Heat, trigger a secondary heat wave, dealing 400% Weapon Damage. Skittering Set: Poisoned Egg chance increased to 40%.Д¬ritical hit with a Melee skill: Spew Acid, dealing 20% Weapon Damage to enemies in front of you for 3 seconds. On Kill: 20% chance to spawn a Poisoned Egg that explodes, dealing 150% Weapon Damage. Servo-Driven Uppercut gains 200% increased Weapon Damage, 200% increased Heat cost, a 4 seconds cooldown, and fires a wave of energy that travels through enemies. Mountain King Set: Cast any Vent Skill: Gain an additional 25 Heat.Д¬ast Coal Launch: If above 75 Heat, more coal fragments rain down on enemies for 120% Weapon Damage each.Д¬ast Ramming Robot: If above 75 Heat, vent all Heat to deal 200% Weapon Damage when you start and stop moving. Mountain King Set: Summon 3 additional Explodobots. Mountain King Set: +1 Skill Level to Brawl Skills.ДЄctivate Relic Skill: Summon 3 Explodobots. Mountain King Set: Sonic Pulse trigger chance increases to 100%. Mountain King Set: OverHeated grants an addition 10% critical chance.Д¬ast Relic Skill: 50% chance to also cast Sonic Pulse. Vent 75 or more Heat: Gain Overheated, increasing critical chance by 10% for 10 seconds. Mountain King Set: +1 Skill level to Barrage Skills. Hit with Rapid Fire: Gain a Shock Charge, once per 3 seconds (stacks up to 3 times).Д¬ast Shotgonne Blast: Spend all Shock Charges to fire an energy blast dealing 300% Weapon Damage per charge. No matter what build youвЂ™ll pick in the end, bringing in some Forged legendary items will usually not only increase your damage output, but heavily influence how your skills match up with your endgame.Д®ven though you will take a while to gather all legendary items for Forged, getting a good overview is usually the start for every pre-planned build. Forged is one of the newest additions to Torchlight 3, allowing players not only to engage into close range combat with a few different melee skills, but also allowing players to step back behind their group mates or pets and use ranged attacks to quickly kill a lot of enemies in a short time.
